SING is a Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass (SATB) choir for people who like singing in a choir (as well as the car). If you can read music, come along and let us hear your voice so we can determine where you’ll best fit in our group. If you’ve not been in a choir before there will be opportunities to get together for separate lessons or rehearsals prior to choir practice.
We rehearse in Fremantle for 2 hours each Tuesday evening during school terms.
Our directors are:
Lucian Watkins (BMus UWA 2014), founder and artistic director of Melismatica early music ensemble, and member of St George’s Cathedral Consort.
Marilyn Phillips (on occasion), who studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has worked with WA Opera, WASO Chorus, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Art Song Perth, and the hugely popular Big Sing in Perth Concert Hall.
Some of our repertoire includes: Mozart – Ave Verum Corpus; Byrd – Gloria Tibi Domine; Beach Boys – I get Around; Maschwitz/Sherwin – A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square; Palestrina – Alma Redemtoris Mater; John Taverner – Le Roy Kyrie.
